Official data reveals 'insignificant' cost of saving social welfare legal aid for young people
24th October 2011
JustRights has compiled data obtained through Freedom of Information requests and Parliamentary Questions. The data shows it would cost the Government a mere £5.8m to protect all of the 25,840 children and young people who are due to lose legal aid for social welfare law problems. This sum is insignificant compared to the knock-on costs for other public services that are known to result from young people's unresolved problems.
